The Azoty Group – Partner of the 2030 Agenda
The Azoty Group has joined the declaration of partnership for the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, on the initiative of the Ministry of Development as the institution responsible for the implementation of the Agenda in Poland. The ideas behind the 2030 Agenda have long been among the Grupa Azoty Group’s key concerns, which is why it is actively involved in the pursuit of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

“The Grupa Azoty Group fully supports the values promoted by the United Nations in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. We are implementing the National Strategy for Responsible Development prepared by the Polish government and joining forces with our business partners to achieve those Sustainable Development Goals which are affected by the chemical industry the most. We are aware that cooperation, dialogue and focus on the future are the key to success,’” says Wojciech Wardacki, President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty. The UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals are a universal action plan for the Grupa Azoty Group. In May 2017, the Group announced its updated strategy until 2020. The key development areas include generating and implementing innovations to drive the growth of the chemical industry. In line with the updated strategy, by 2020 the expenditure on research, development and innovation will reach 1% of the Grupa Azoty Group’s revenue, in response to Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, Infrastructure. The Grupa Azoty Group is continuing its efforts to achieve other sustainable development goals: to end hunger through promotion and education for sustainable agriculture, responsible consumption and production, education, reduction of environmental impacts, as well as efficient use of water. The Grupa Azoty Group has adopted a strategic approach to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. The Sustainable Development Strategy for 2018–2022 being developed by the Group will take into account the Sustainable Development Goals with the highest level of materiality for the fertilizer and chemical industry. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was announced on September 25th–27th 2015 at United Nations headquarters in New York. The ceremony was attended by over 100 heads of state and heads of government as well as representatives of religious groups, business and civic society. During the UN summit, world leaders adopted the document “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” , which outlines the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
