Polimery Police: Grupa Azoty Polyolefins completes the polypropylene distributor selection process

Ter Hell Plastic GmbH will be the distributor of Grupa Azoty Polyolefins’s polypropylene product, Gryfilen® across the DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg), and Central and Eastern European markets (Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovenia, Bulgaria). In March 2023, Ter Hell Plastic GmbH was also named as the distributor for Gryfilen® in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland.

The contract with Ter Hell Plastic GmbH marks the completion of the few month long process to determine the distributors for the Gryfilen® brand in various markets.

The other exclusive distributors of polypropylene produced by Grupy Azoty Polyolefins are:

  • for the Polish market – Grupa Azoty Compounding Sp. z o.o.
  • for Italy, France, Spain and Portugal – Nexeo Plastic Europa B.V.
  • for the UK and Ireland – Biesterfeld Plastic GmbH
  • for Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Ukraine – Imlitex Industry UAB

Polypropylene production at Polimery Police commenced last week, and production capacity will be gradually increased, with sales of Gryfilen® slated to begin in August. The selected distributors are market leaders which will enable us to establish a strong position for our new product across Europe,” says Tomasz Hinc, President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty S.A.

Polimery Police is Grupa Azoty Group’s new chemical complex based on state-of-the-art solutions: the Oleflex UOP technology for the production of polymer-quality propylene using the propane dehydrogenation (PDH) method and the Unipol GRACE technology for the production of polypropylene. These technologies help achieve, among others, low consumption of raw materials and energy, coupled with high production flexibility, which is particularly important in the evolving and strongly competitive European plastics market, where a top quality and highly-customised product is in great demand.

The Polimery Police complex is being constructed under an EPC contract. The contract was signed on May 11th 2019 between Grupa Azoty Polyolefins S.A. and Hyundai Engineering Company, Ltd. The construction site was officially handed over to the contractor on January 7th 2020. The process to launch polypropylene production began on June 22nd 2023, with the completion of all works under the project expected in the second half of 2023.
