Grupa Azoty Reports First-Quarter 2026 Results

In the first quarter of 2026, Grupa Azoty generated revenue of PLN 3.70 billion, a modest decline of 3.14% from PLN 3.82 billion in the same period a year earlier. EBITDA improved substantially, reaching PLN 317 million — an increase of PLN 325 million year on year compared with the negative result recorded in Q1 2025 (PLN -8 million). Excluding the impact of GA Polyolefins, EBITDA stood at PLN 341 million, up PLN 255 million from PLN 86 million in the prior-year period. The consolidated EBITDA margin came in at 8.6%, an improvement of 8.8 percentage points against the -0.2% recorded in Q1 2025.

‘The first quarter of 2026 delivered a clear improvement in profitability across the Group, reflected in consolidated EBITDA of PLN 317 million — PLN 325 million higher than in the same period last year. The primary driver of this performance was a very strong result in the Agro segment, where EBITDA grew by PLN 146 million year on year, up 157.0% to PLN 239 million. Equally significant is the return to positive territory in the Chemicals segment, which posted EBITDA of PLN 17 million — a meaningful turnaround from the negative result recorded a year ago and the segment's first positive result since Q4 2023. We should also acknowledge that the quarterly result was supported by a revision to the CO₂ emissions allowance provision for 2025, driven by a decline in market prices for emissions allowances, amounting to PLN 97 million — a direct consequence of IAS requirements, said Jacek Podgórski, Vice-President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty.

‘A very significant part of the Management Board's and the organisation's work at present involves ongoing discussions with banks and financial institutions. We are still operating under monthly stabilisation agreements, which require continuous renegotiation. Our objective is to conclude a target restructuring agreement that will allow us to shift our focus from day-to-day debt crisis management to the strategic development of the Grupa Azoty business. We are getting closer to that goal,’ said Marcin Celejewski, President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty, commenting on the Group's current debt situation.

In the context of the Fertiliser Action Plan announced by the European Commission on 19 May 2026, Grupa Azoty welcomes a shift in the European Union's approach to the critical role of European industry. This new initiative marks the first time EU policy has so explicitly linked agricultural and fertiliser policy, food security with industrial competitiveness, and the pursuit of strategic autonomy in fertiliser production.‘Recent geopolitical developments — including tensions in the Strait of Hormuz — have thrown into sharp relief just how important fertiliser security and the maintenance of domestic production capacity are for Europe. The European Commission is beginning to recognise that European food security is inextricably linked to a strong fertiliser industry. Fertiliser production must take place close to the end user: the further we push it outside Europe, the greater the risks to supply stability and, consequently, to food prices,’added President Celejewski.
